Nickelback has always been a band with music that is harder than pop but not hard enough for traditional rock and heavy metal fans. The band's consistent midway approach has often angered diehard rock fans but also unlocked the door to a host of other musical audiences. "All The Right Reasons" will appeal to the band's strongest followers with crossover potential to draw new fans as well.

The making of the band's recently released sixth album was a return to the group's pre-fame days. After two weeks of vacation, Chad Kroeger (guitar/lead vocals), his brother Mike Kroeger (bass), and their friend Ryan Peake (guitar/backing vocals) were already at work on a new album in Vancouver, Canada.

Former Three Doors Down drummer Daniel Adair joined Nickelback's three original members, and they spent the next seven months working on the 42-minute, 11-song album that was co-produced with their friend, Joey Moi. The album, issued under Roadrunner Records, was the band's attempt to create music for artistic purposes and not commercial obligations.

The album's opening track, "Follow You Home," is very energetic and consistent with the band's post-grunge rock sound. Kroeger occasionally tests his voice during the chorus, but the band still pulls out a strong, starter song with catchy lyrics that features a guitar solo by ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons.

The album's first single "Photograph" has already achieved No. 1 status at both the Monitor Active Rock and Mainstream Rock radio charts. This moving acoustic ballad explores Kroeger's first kiss, his childhood friends and the time he got busted for breaking into his high school.

"Animals" is the latest attempt by Nickelback to shed their soft image among die-hard rock and metal fans. The song carried more heavy riffs and is undoubtedly faster, harder and louder than normal Nickelback songs, but "Animals" is no where near the heavy metal sound the band hoped to achieve.

"Side of a Bullet" is the anticipated tribute to Kroeger's friend, late guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott. The song aggressively narrates the events leading to the murder of the former Pantera member. Abbott's brother, Vinnie Paul Abbott, and Kroeger pieced together a new Abbott solo that is included in the song, through old guitar outtakes.

The ballads, "Far Away" and "If Everyone Cared," carry the potential to be successful singles, while "Savin' Me" and "Fight For All The Wrong Reasons" round out this otherwise impressive new CD.

Consistency is the core of Nickelback's success. The album's heavy riffs, memorable lyrics and personal ballads continue to appeal to fans of pop, hard rock, alternative and metal music. "All The Right Reasons" gives Nickelback fans every reason to stay loyal.
